Rely on your community when things get tough. Weโ€™re here for you! #AL1GNandConquer - weโ€™re stronger together. @bettermakeroom
Welcome to our second week of #MeetTheOrganizers! Patrice (she/her/hers) is a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in both Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness and Political Science with a triple minor in Urban & Regional Studies, Environmental Studies, and Nonprofit Management & Administration ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. She's from Chesapeake, VA and in addition to being one of our conference co-directors, Patrice is President of You First at VCU - A First-Generation Student Organization. Patrice says she's wanted to host AL1GN at VCU since she attended her first conference back in 2018. She says, "Not only has AL1GN played a significant role in my experiences as a first-generation college student, but it has helped transform and expand the FGLI narrative at my university. AL1GN was a catalyst for change because it sparked in me a passion to use my voice and abilities to make a difference at my university. Volunteering to organize the AL1GN Conference is a way for me to give back to an entity that has had a major impact on not only myself, but the FGLI narrative." Thank you for your hard work and dedication, Patrice! We're excited to grow together. VCU and University of Richmond students can learn more about how to get involved by attending our interest meeting in early September (details TBD). Join us - #AL1GNandConquer ๐ŸŽ‰

Welcome to our first week of #MeetTheOrganizers! We'll feature a new organizer each Monday over the course of the next few weeks so you can get to know our #AL1GN2020 conference hosts. Jon (he/him/his) is a student at Virginia Commonwealth University and one of our new conference co-directors! He's from Norfolk, VA and is pursuing an interdisciplinary degree for UX design and industrial design. Jon says he wanted to participate in organizing the conference because "I wanted to create change here at the university by giving back to a community that has supported me since before I had even gotten to the University." The 4th AL1GN National Conference will be hosted in Richmond, VA by VCU and the University of Richmond. Stay tuned for more information! #AL1GNandConquer
